AND BREATHE...
Well, Christmas is over for another year and this post is especially for you; the people who make Christmas what it is. Those who make sure the gifts are checked off and wrapped, the decorations are just so, the house is clean and tidy and the fridge is full. Those who put smiles on childrens faces, who look after others and spend their Christmas run ragged – I see you!
The turkey has all gone, the presents unwrapped and guests have all gone home. There are still gifts in the lounge and the decorations to take down but for now sit down, enjoy the quiet and breath a sigh of relief. This moment is for you! You don’t need to wipe down the worktops, or find somewhere to put the kids new bike – those jobs will still be there tomorrow! Today, all you need to do is look after you. Grab yourself an indulgent drink, have that bubble bath or watch that soppy film you’ve been meaning to see this year. Whatever makes you feel looked after or cared for – now is the time.
Yes, traditionally it’s the time of year when people look toward the New Year and list all of the things that they want to change next year, but I want you to know you don’t have to do that!
It’s been a strange year – what if, for now, you just enjoy being here, in this moment. A moment where you don’t have to wash the dishes or prepare another meal. Instead of looking toward the next thing to check off your to-do list, how about you just take the pressure off and enjoy the moment you are in – whatever it is!
Wishing you a peaceful and content New Year.
