FUN THINGS TO DO IN AUTUMN MONTHS

The Relationship with Self Series from Make Me A Plan's Wellbeing Expert, Tamsin Cain

Autumn, or fall if you are one of our American friends, is my favourite season. Yes, Christmas is my favourite time of year, but can you beat the autumn season?  The beautiful blue, cold skies accompanied by the different colours in the trees and on the ground, I really don’t feel you can beat it! But saying that I know that many people struggle with the shorter days and so my mission to you this fortnight is to help you enjoy the autumn months. To do so there is a list below of lots of fun things to try to help you enjoy this beautiful season.

-         Try jumping in leaves, yes this feels silly but has a real feeling of reverting to childhood when you jump in crunchy leaves or throw them over your head

-         Enjoy a duvet day with hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows

-         Make toffee apples

-         Use autumn leaves, pinecones and small pumpkins to decorate your house – indoors or outdoors. This can look really cosy and bring the beauty of autumn into your home

-         Decorate pinecones

-         Make fabric pumpkins

-         Make tree paintings with children using their handprints as autumn leaves

-         Have a bonfire and toast marshmallows

-         Enjoy an autumn flavoured day and use lots of cinnamon, hazelnut and of course, pumpkin

-         Take a crisp morning walk – snuggled up in your warm  clothes of course

-         Visit a corn maze

-         Visit a pumpkin patch

-         Visit an orchard and pick apples for a homemade pie or crumble

-         Watch a Halloween movie

-         Make soup

-         Make your home cosy and warm and read a book in front of the fire

-         Carve pumpkins for Halloween

Of course, this list isn’t set in stone. Feel free to pass on things or indeed add extra things in. In fact, if you have things that you enjoy in autumn that aren’t on the list, we’d love to hear them.
