MOMENTUM
We all have our own momentum, our own rhythm - in fact, everything does. Night follows day and the seasons change, birds migrate, flowers bloom, seconds tick and so on. Rhythm can in fact help to reassure us that everything in life is flowing along just as it should, but sometimes that rhythm misses a beat and we lose our flow and finding our momentum can be a real battle.
Getting into a flow and finding our motivation is different for each person for example someone training for a sponsored run will have a much different fitness regime to someone taking a dance class for a hobby and just like these people, you need to find what works for you. That said, it is so easy to get caught up in anothers rhythm and forget about our own. So, what gives you your spark and motivation. What helps you to find your own life rhythm and where is it that you can incorporate your motivations, dreams and truly thrive?
One way to find out is to read last fortnights blog on Core Values to look at how you can live in congruence with these.
Another thing to try is our 'just one thing' rule. This means finding just one thing to make a start with - it doesn’t have to be a huge thing but something that will make you feel better. The first step is often the hardest and once we take it, the beat starts and the next steps become easier.
Try a few minutes at the beginning or end of the day to 'brain dump'. Use a notebook to write down all of the things that are on your mind, whether this is as a list, pictures, mind maps, stories or even bullets. It is helpful to get out your thoughts as a way of decluttering and allowing us to organise and prioritise as a way to maintain motivation and momentum to keep us moving forward.
