ON AUTUMN
On “autumn days, when the grass is jewelled…I mustn’t forget, to say a great big thank you…” as the song this Philosopher-in-Residence recalls fondly from her childhood assembly days. As well as this having a cracking melody, as the Seasons Series continues this fortnight, I wanted to showcase the modern-day message the lyrics of this song hold for us. Hat-tip to Estelle White, the writer of this lovely tune.
First off – Evenings are darker. Mornings are darker. Everything feels, well, darker. We can’t change these facts of nature, but we can make simple and assertive steps to aid our outlook on the autumnal ingress.
An access route to this positivity practice is to set the habit of noticing the jewelled grass each morning and evening and train yourself to recognise delight in this.
Secondly, saying a great big thank you. Something that is nourishing for yourself and the recipient. Regular fans of plans may have noted in the past my penchant for “Thank You Thursday”. It doesn’t have to be every week, but it can be. It doesn’t have to be Thursday, but the alliteration is better if it is, and it may the boost needed to get through the rest of the week.
This Thank You Thursday I’m giving warm-hearted thanks and appreciation to the various colleagues who took great care of things while I was recently away on holiday. Top work, team members!
And although this Philosopher-in-Residence is rather partial to a “power of three” suite of examples usually, since I’m keen to help you trusty members of Plankind ease your ways into Autumn, the above is all you need to think about and endeavour to action this blog round.
Next fortnight, I’ll be musing On Half Measures – do make a full effort to drop by and browse.
Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
