ON MONTSERRAT
Latterly, most members of the United Plandom have been confined to the breadth of their imaginations rather than their wanderlust. So, as our website’s third birthday month draws to a close, I’ve chosen a blog theme this fortnight combining a distant island, ways to keep on keeping on and (of course!) one of our house fonts.
Look Out
One of the small settlements on the Caribbean island of Montserrat and also a vital piece of life advice. In the week that the University of Sussex launched the Kindness Test, we here at Make Me A Plan remind you that looking out for others is one of our patented Healthy Habits Academy tenets – as well as looking out for yourself.
Ready to Erupt
Famous for its volcanic activity, Montserrat has experienced several eruptions over the years. Unsurprisingly, none of these eruptions improved matters. If you’ve found yourself getting more easily irate and blowing up over this extended period of working at max stress during the pandemic – whilst I know this is easier said than done – reacquaint yourself with your off switch and let things go.
On Brand
Julieta Ulanovsky, an Argentina-based designer, took inspiration from old signs and posters in the Montserrat neighbourhood of Buenos Aires to design one of Make Me A Plan’s house fonts (not especially for us, we hasten to add!)
This forms the bold capital block typeface in our logo mark. So this Philospher-In-Residence’s final piece of humility life-hack this edition is to remind you that everything in life is a choice (even if it’s between a rock and a hard place). Make those choices on-brand. So be bold, if you’re bold. Be happy to be an introvert, if you’re an introvert. Go back to what you know and you may just find that’s a perfectly good place to be.
Next fortnight, I’ll be musing On Size – looking forward to taking a unique angle with this one.
Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this topic you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
