ON SAYING GOOD MORNING
Away on business recently, this Philosopher-in-Residence was full of the joys of autumn, walking up to catch the train into central from a London suburb.
As you may be familiar, sometimes the vibe is to keep your head down and stay in your own lane in the vicinity of the capital city. This was a glorious early morning, and I was enjoying walking down the high street, seeing the early birds opening up and setting up their businesses in advance of the day ahead. I decided to say good morning to everyone I passed and channel that sunny autumn feeling.
So what were the outcomes? On the more expected front, I felt good about myself and being part of this great United Plandom. The good folks I encountered also seemed to be cheered by a fellow human bidding them good morning. On the somewhat less expected note, I did get told I was beautiful and invited out on a date by one chap, which I felt bad about having to decline but in the grand scheme of things, was hardly a bad thing nor unmanageable.
When did you last say good morning indiscriminately? And did it make you have a good morning? I’d love to hear your experiences.
Next fortnight I’ll be writing On Ten. You won’t even need 10 minutes to pop by and read it! Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
