ON THURSDAY
Thursday’s child has far to go, and this Philosopher-in-Residence was a babe born on Thursday many moons ago.
As thoughts turn to the winter solstice, Christmas period and turn of the year, with a birthday sandwiched in the middle of all that for myself, it seemed like a suitable interval to ponder how far I’ve gone and how much further I’d like to go in some areas that mean a lot to me and my values.
Devoted members of Plankind may draw parallels with previous blogs where I’ve covered pride triggers and a monthly pressing of pause to document positive steps from the past period.
This is, as with all Make Me A Plan life hackery, aimed at being simple and reflective and something you don’t need fancy equipment or oodles of time to achieve.
A sheet of paper, pen, a few minutes and your tongue slightly in your cheek are all the ingredients you need for this festive furthering.
I would recommend choosing 3-5 focus areas for you, if you are enjoying the technique and want to continue, by all means have a list of 7, or even 10.
Here are three of mine to populate the example:
Value: Rest and relaxation
Distance travelled: many miles pre-pandemic, quite far to go to regain that level of balance
Philosopher’s Prescription: booking boundaries in my diary for 2023
Value: Fairness
Distance travelled: almost 41 years and counting
Philosopher’s Prescription: don’t forget to include yourself in the fair share for 2023, Anna
Value: Mindfulness
Distance travelled: baby steps
Philosopher’s Prediction: move from baby steps to an infant-like curiosity and interaction with the moment for 2023
I hope you get the idea, I hope you derive value from it, and I hope you have a very merry Christmas.
Next fortnight, will actually be next year! And a little bit longer than a fortnight, since this Philosopher-in-Residence will be taking a well-earned break over the Christmas period. So, there won’t be an edition on December 29th, but there will be a piece worth the wait on the first Thursday of the New Year, January 5th I’ll be musing On Beginning – although I know regular readers of this blog will say I do that every fortnight!
Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
