REFLECTION
As the New Year begins, many of us have already made or are at least thinking about the resolutions and/or intentions that we wish to set for the year. Some people seem to pluck resolutions out of thin air with ease but, if you are anything like me, these intentions may not come to you easily. If this is the case reflection can be a great place to start.
Reflection helps us to understand where we are coming from and where we want to be. It is about asking yourself questions and listening to your own truth - finding out what the year has meant for you and what you want your goals to be? Reflection is like an audit of yourself giving you the chance to reflect on the year and adapt to help make the next one more of what you want it to be; whether that is personal goals, relationship goals or career goals.
Below are some questions that may help you to reflect over the last year, appreciate what has been good and take steps to set your own intentions for the coming year.
You can choose to go through all of the questions or answer the ones that are most apt for yourself but remember the answers are for you and you alone and you must be honest with yourself about your thoughts. The answers are not to impress anyone but yourself.
- Which relationships have meant the most to you this year? Why?
- What was the best decision that you made last year?
- How are you different than you were a year ago?
- What made you smile during 2020?
- What would you like to do more of in 2021?
- What energised you? What drained you? How will you use this knowledge in 2021?
- Were you able to be kind to yourself over the last year?
- What do you wish you had done differently last year?
- Do you feel valued?
- What do you like about your current job role?
- What makes you feel productive and motivated?
- What advice would you give yourself for the next year?
These questions are only suggestions to help prompt you but feel free to ask yourself any question that will help you to deepen your own knowledge of yourself.
Here's to a New Year full of self-awareness and positive steps towards whatever goals you choose.
Stay safe and well,
Tamsin
