ON NOVELTY
Regular fans of plans will know that from time to time, this blog goes FULL PSEUD’S CORNER. This edition is one of those occasions.
I’ve been reading Edmund Burke’s A Philosophical Inquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful. I’ll leave you to pick up the full version if you want to probe further into all that jazz, but in the meantime, back to how this relates to the blog topic du jour.
Burke discusses the human’s affinity for the novel. How curiosity prompts a neural response and inclines humans to uprate the novel over the normal.
Try something new this weekend and see if you agree? This Philosopher-in-Residence would love to hear what you try and what you think.
Next fortnight, I’ll be writing On Rota. Schedule yourself a slot to stop by and read it.
Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
